What Character LCD Formats and Options Are Available?

Our range includes 8×1, 8×2, 12×1, 14×4, 16×1, 16×2, 16×4, 20×1, 20×2, 20×4, 24×2, 40×2 and 40×4 character formats.

When comparing models, consider these specifications:

• Module Structure: COB and COG designs are available across the range.
• Interface: Available interfaces include 6800 parallel, SPI and I²C. Supported interfaces and controllers vary by model.
• Mechanical Dimensions: Compare module size, viewing area and character size with your enclosure and readability requirements.

Modules with the same character format can have different mechanical dimensions. Use the product drawings to identify a suitable design, then confirm its display and electrical configuration for your application.

Where Are Character LCD Modules Used?

Character LCDs are suited to equipment that displays numeric readings, operating settings, status messages and simple text menus.

Typical applications include meters, test instruments, industrial controllers and embedded control panels. The number of characters and lines determines how much information can appear on the screen, while character size helps determine readability at the intended viewing distance.

What Can Be Customized on a Character LCD Module?

Depending on the model, configuration options may include LCD mode, polarizer, backlight color, viewing direction and operating voltage. Temperature requirements should also be confirmed for the selected configuration.

Changes to the PCB outline, mounting holes, connectors or pin assignments require a separate engineering assessment. Some modifications may involve additional design work or tooling.
